GIVING to others teaches our children compassion and social responsibility. They learn to play a role in helping to make the world a better place.
Giving is a Year-Round Activity When children get their weekly allowance, have them consistently deposit money into the GIVE compartment. Children feel very proud when they GIVE their own money.
Choose a Meaningful Way to Give Discuss your family's giving priorities (e.g., disaster relief, animal shelters, children's hospitals) and research (and visit) meaningful non-profit organizations that support these causes.
Holidays and birthdays are a good time to help children focus on giving to others. One option is to make cash contributions. A second option is to participate in a food or toy drive, where children can use their GIVE money to purchase needed items and deliver them directly.
Your children may withdraw from this compartment weekly, if they make regular contributions to their school, church or synagogue.
Track Where You Give Have your children use the dry-erase surface on the GIVE lid to write down the name of their charity of choice or to track how much money is in the compartment.
